A prototype of the new Swedish JA37 Viggen fighter, which is equipped with a new and more powerful RM8B engine,underwent a successful test flight at the end of September report the manufacturers, Saab-Scania. The plane is scheduled to enter service with the Swedish Air Force in 1978. The JA37 development programme will include five prototypes, four of which are modified attack versions. Each of the latter is intended for specific tests - of the new control system, engine tests, electronics, and armaments system.
